Star Trek Cast: Where Are They Now?

7. Walter Koenig

Star Trek Now And Then
Paramount

Although he joined the show in Star Trek's second season, Walter Koenig is a foundation of Star Trek - with Chekov remaining one of the most recognizable characters and names in the entire franchise.

He has had a long career in writing, spending most of his time behind the camera rather than in front of it. He appeared in all seven Star Trek films that featured the Original crew and would go on to appear in Star Trek: New Voyages and Star Trek: Renegades.

He appeared in twelve episodes of Babylon 5, the rival series to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and was even put forward for an Emmy Nomination for his work. He has appeared in many theatre productions, including appearing on stage with Mark Lenard in an updated retelling of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

He joked in the past about not only his Russian accent, which has been criticized for lacking authenticity, and for Khan's recognition of him in Star Trek II, despite Koenig joining the show after Khan's episode.

He lent his support to the U.S. Campaign for Burma, visiting refugee camps on the Burma-Thailand border, in 2007.
