Star Trek Deep Space Nine Cast: Where Are They Now?

9. Julian Bashir - Alexander Siddig

Julian Bashir
CBS Television Studios

Introduced to the show in Emissary as the cocky young recruit, Julian Bashir would rise through the show to become one of the most beloved characters in the series. Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abderahman Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Abdel Karim El Mahdi (shortened to Siddig El Fadil, and then changed to Alexander Siddig) was only 25 when he landed the role of Dr. Bashir (after being passed over for the role of Commander Sisko!)

During the show's run, he fell in love with and had a child with co-star Nana Visitor, with whom he married and subsequently divorced, although they remain on good terms. His later credits include Spooks, Family Guy, 24, Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders and Gotham.

He has appeared in many films since the show finished as well. He appeared in Reign of Fire, Kingdom of Heaven, Doomsday (with his uncle, Malcolm McDowell) and Syriana to name a few.

He has also been one of the few actors to work in both Star Trek and Doctor Who, as he has taken part in several audio dramas for Doctor Who. While he has not yet had a role that would ensure him to be as recognisable on a week to week basis as Star Trek, it is clear that this actor remains working consistently with a wide variety of roles.
