Star Trek: Discovery Episode 3.8 Review: Ups And Downs From The Sanctuary

5. The Viridian (UP)

Star Trek Discovery Viridian
CBS

Anyone who has been following some of the articles here will know that we here at WhatCulture are fans of the ships in Star Trek. The Viridian is a beautiful addition to the franchise! It more closely resembles a battle station than a vessel, but it present such menace and threat that this is absolutely brilliant.

Detaching parts of the ships has, up to this point of the season, been...fine? Discovery's detached nacelles, while cool looking, don't really seem to serve much purpose - other than to look cool. However, the detached sections of the Viridian seem to present threat after threat, while also offering Detmer a chance to recreate Luke Skywalker's trench run!

It is a great design and it would be a shame if this were the only time it was featured in the series. Although, with the Emerald Chain being set up as the big bad of the season, its unlikely we've seen the last of it.
