Star Trek: Discovery Season 3.13 Review: Ups And Downs From That Hope Is You - Part 2

I won't make any secret of the fact that I don't always love the decisions made with Michael Burnham's character. There are more times than not that I've found myself rolling my eyes at another scene of her saving the day - in the way that only Burnham can. One of my issues with the lack of screentime that the rest of the crew receive has been that it has been Burnham front and centre all of the time.

Having said all of that, my issues have been with the writing. Week in, week out, Sonequa Martin-Green has played an absolute blinder. She has been given the weight of much of the seasons to carry and she has done so successfully. With her now established (finally) as Captain of the Discovery, that places her more or less on the same trajectory as Sisko - for it was the end of his third season that he made Captain as well.

Burnham has been many things, but now we will get to see her as the Captain responsible for all of the lives on her ship. We do not, at present, know what shape her crew will take, nor do we know how Stamets will react to her authority, but giving Martin-Green the big chair - that's fine with us.

Season 4 of Star Trek Discovery is currently filming, with no word yet on a projected release date. Keep checking here for the news and as always, thank you for reading!
