Star Trek: Discovery Season 3.13 Review: Ups And Downs From That Hope Is You - Part 2

2. Saru/Doug Jones

Star Trek Discovery Saru
CBS

Hands down the MVP of the episode is Saru. Without any phasers or fisticuffs, he manages to save a potentially deadly situation from turning catastrophic. To follow on from the previous point of family, he assumes the role of big brother to Su'kal with ease, helping to guide the young man forward and help him understand what is happening around them.

Doug Jones has proven time and time again that he is one of the best investments that this franchise has made to Star Trek. As Saru has grown in the show, so too has he - although arguably, he was already the most defined performer from the beginning.

We know that Saru will be back for season 4 (Doug Jones has confirmed as much on Twitter) so what remains to be seen is how long he will remain on Kaminar. But he will be back, whether as Captain or in some other role. He needs to come back soon, because I will not be happy until he does.
