Star Trek: Discovery Season 3.13 Review: Ups And Downs From That Hope Is You - Part 2

6. Slow Death

Star Trek Discovery Crew
CBS

The idea that Osyrra would execute the crew? Absolutely no problem with that.

The idea that Osyrra would execute the crew so slowly that they have time to rescue the ship, cook dinner and read the first few chapters of War & Peace? Not so much.

It simply doesn't track with the same woman we saw brutally murder Ryn one week ago. She vaporized him instantly as soon as he had run out of usefulness, and yet she decides that switching off life support is the best way to take care of the crew. This isn't just short sighted - it's catastrophic, effectively setting the scene for her plans to be ruined.

This is not the same woman who not only took control of the vessel, but managed to get within the shields of Starfleet HQ and force Admiral Vance to the negotiating table. This is the moustache twirling of a pantomime villain, which is a huge disappointment after the stellar work that last week's episode went to making her a more rounded person.
