Star Trek: Every Ensign Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Sylvia Tilly

Sylvia Tilly showed early signs of her science skills when she reprogrammed her food synthesiser to only produce ice cream at the age of nine. She eventually attended Starfleet Academy and was fast-tracked in order to serve aboard the Discovery and work on the experimental and highly classified spore drive while still a cadet.

Because of her involvement in escaping the mirror universe and ending the Klingon War, Tilly was promoted to an ensign. Shortly after, she started the Command Training Program to accomplish her goal of becoming a Captain, and began researching how to use dark matter as an alternative way to interface with the mycelial network. Obviously, it takes a lot of talent to be working on top-secret research while still a junior officer.

Perhaps Tilly's biggest act of selflessness was when she agreed to abandon her family and be transported to the 32nd century aboard Discovery to save the Federation. This, along with her early achievements, work on the spore drive, and unwaveringly optimistic attitude made her one of Starfleet's best ensigns ever.
