Star Trek: Every Q Episode Ranked Worst To Best

8. Q2

Keegan de Lancie guest stars here, playing the on screen son of his real life father. He's a chip off the old block, in that he's as arrogant and unruly as Q ever was, needing to be broken into line by Aunt Kathy. The episode is fun and offers a sort of 'next generation' of the stars. Q and Icheb become fast friends, though Q of course has no interest in the rules that Icheb chooses to follow.

The episode serves as a sequel to the previous entry on this list and also serves as the last appearance of Q in the franchise to date. There are parallels here with Q's early days - his son is spoiled and selfish, much like himself. He provokes the Borg, something Q himself could have been accused of doing by introducing the Enterprise to the Collective all those years before.

The chemistry between the actors is easily felt on screen. While de Lancie senior is the recognisable and lovable returning Q, de Lancie junior manages to hold his own in the episode. He plays the character with both charm and sleaze, allowing the to both revile and eventually root for him.

Introducing the surprise (sort of) child of a guest star can have varying results but here it delivers a solid episode of fun, although perhaps not the strongest final outing for the franchise's favourite God.
