Star Trek: Lower Decks 2.4 Review - Ups & Downs From Mugato, Gumato

5. I've READ Five Books On Mugato's - UP

Star Trek Lower Decks Tellarite
CBS

When Boimler and Rutherford are separated from the away team, they run straight out into the forests around the Ferengi camp. The last thing that they saw was Shax being injured by a Mugato, then further wounded by none other than Mariner. She plunges a knife into the Bajoran's chest, before sucking out his blood. As you do. Suitably freaked out, they run away.

They quickly realise their error though, finding themselves lost in the wild with roving packs of Mugato around them. Thankfully, they run into the Mugato hunter, a thinly veiled tribute to the late, great Steve Irwin. This friendly Australian Tellarite informs them he has five books on Mugato, leaving him incredibly confident in his ability to handle them.

The boys follow him, asking how long it took to write the books. Write? Oh heavens no. He's READ five books on Mugato, leaving him in the perfect position...to have his head bitten off moments later by a particularly angry looking specimen.

UP - it's another suitably dark joke for this episode (though nothing on the next one) that manages to shock and create a laugh all at the same time.
