Star Trek Lower Decks: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Envoys'

28. Fanciest Tricorder Ever

Star Trek Lower Decks Evora Insurrection Easter Egg Cameo

Mariner's transdimensional captive is apparently capable of granting wishes by rearranging air molecules, so Mariner wishes for "one of those fancy new tricorders with the purple stripe".

The alien then poops out a tricorder that looks a lot like Dr. T'Ana's tricorder from "Second Contact", but with a purple stripe.

The tricorders that appear on Lower Decks are a new design, resembling the flip open props used throughout TNG and its spinoffs, before they were replaced with PalmPilot-like tricorders in Star Trek Nemesis. But because Lower Decks is firmly rooted in the TNG aesthetic, the tricorders, phasers, costumes, and starship interiors are all throwbacks to that 90s era of Trek, despite the 2380 setting.
