Star Trek Picard: 10 Plotlines Season 3 Should Address
7. Where Have The Gang Been??
The response to the news that almost the entire Next Generation cast would be returning for Season 3 of Picard was greeted was somewhere between 'warm' and 'outright nerd hysteria'. Mostly because a lot of the names involved have felt very conspicuous by their absense.
Season 1 saw us checking in with Riker, happily married in the middle of nowhere but still able to get his hands on 800 identical starships when needs be; Troi, doing all the actual work in the aforementioned marriage, and Data, cosplaying as Hugh Hefner's force ghost. But beyond that, the legacy of The Next Generation has been largely non-existent. Yes yes, Guinan and Q were a core part of Season 2, but these are two charachter who, combined, have had less screen-time than Porthos.
We've had clues though. Worf has regularly been pictured as the current Captain of the Enterprise in several canon-adjacent publications, and Geordi even got a mention in Seasons 1 of Picard as having been overseeing the Utopia Planitia during the Romulan evacuation, but nothing substantial.
Quite what old Beverley makes of Jean-Luc finally settling down with a space woman twenty years his junior remains to be seen.
