Star Trek Picard: 5 Ups & 5 Downs From Episode 2 'Maps And Legends'

2. The Fantastic Supporting Cast

Picard's second episode did a great job expanding the supporting cast, with a number of compelling appearances by strong character actors.

First and foremost, the brilliant David Paymer showed up for a single scene as Picard's pal Moritz Benayoun, who had the unfortunate duty of delivering news of Picard's medical diagnosis.

Elsewhere, veteran TV actress (and The Karate Kid Part II star) Tamlyn Tomita made an impression as the stern Commodore Oh, Ann Magnuson was a hoot as Admiral Clancy (despite that iffy F-bomb), and we even got a quick introduction to Picard's old friend Raffi Musiker, played with an appealing feistiness by Michelle Hurd.

Hopefully the coming episodes might give the cast a little more narrative meat to chew on, but clearly, the show doesn't want for talented actors.
