Star Trek: Picard - 7 Ups & 2 Downs From Stardust City Rag

6. Jeri Ryan

Seven of Nine
CBS

It took me an entire night to sleep on this point but, when the realisation finally arrived, it hit me like a bolt of lighting. There was something... 'off' about Jeri Ryan's performance this week, and to an extent that it didn't really feel like you were actually watching Seven of Nine. The way she speaks, the way she carries herself, it just didn't quite feel right.

As jarring as it is though, of course it doesn't feel right. Here is a woman who has reclaimed so much more of her humanity than she managed in the few years we saw her on Voyager, that the version of her were used to is little more than a distant - and likely painful - memory. We're watching a huge evolution in this performance, and Ryan deserves credit for managing to pull it off while still dipping back into the Seven of old when required.
