Star Trek Picard: Every Major Character Ranked

7. Laris

Star Trek Picard Laris
CBS

Laris earns her spot here for almost contradictory reasons to the ones that have come before. In her short screen time, her character was perfectly defined and played fantastically by Orla Brady. Never has the word 'feckers' been spoken in Star Trek before and I didn't know how much I needed it until that moment.

An Ex-Tal Shiar agent who has turned away from violence and is now fiercely loyal to Picard. That's her character summary in a single sentence and yet Brady manages to take that and imbue the character with such heart and personality that it feels as though we have known her for years. She appears here over Zhaban as she has slightly more screen time and uses that time with more efficiency.

It would be an absolute crime for her not to return in the next season as, not only could her relationship to Picard develop further but she could easily act as a mother-figure to Elnor, teaching him that there is more to life than the ways of the nuns that he was raised with.

Laris is one of the strongest new characters introduced in this show, an example of when the writing is good, it is very good. Her skills are supreme, she clearly cares about the world around her and there is love in her eyes, even as she gives out to Picard like a child. Please, more Laris!
