Star Trek Picard: Every Season One Death Ranked

8. Dr. Bruce Maddox

Star Trek Picard Deaths
CBS

After his escapades back in The Next Generation, we should probably have just openly despised Bruce Maddox to the point that his - admittedly shocking - death was widely cheered among fans.

But as it was, seeing his former lover Jurati driven to kill him after her "activation" by the Romulans against the synths actually proved way more frustrating than that. Their established relationship added a little emotional piquancy to that moment and so did the fact that his secrets died with him. If they didn't, the show would have been shorter, so it wasn't the worst thing.

Maddox arguably died the worst of all of Picard's victims, rithing in agony and it wasn't pleasant, but maybe that's what someone in the writing room felt he deserved after the sins in his past.

Ultimately, he died as a genius and one of the most important men in the history of synthetics and his death is mostly important for what it meant to the manipulation of Jurati.
