Star Trek: Picard - Everything We Know About Season 3

10. Is It The End?

With the reveal of the gorgeous season three poster at the Television Critics Association (TCA) the tag line of "The Final Season" was all too evident.

Fans have known almost since day one that the plan for Picard was only to boldly go for three seasons but at the TCA panel, there was a suggestion that the final, final adventure might not be so...final.

Terry Matalas himself, who has written both episodes one and ten, revealed that the finale does leave the door open for more, with Patrick Stewart backing this up at the same event. This could indicate that "The final season" only means the end of the Picard story. In that case, any future iterations could go under a new title that would allow Stewart and the TNG cast to take another tour of duty.

Indeed, there was a rumble that this final season could have been entitled Star Trek: Legacy, given that it is quite removed from the stories of the previous two seasons.

Rumours have been circulating for some time that a Seven and Raffi series could find its way to screens following positive reactions to their roles in Picard.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
