Star Trek: Picard - Everything We Know About Season 3
8. Classic Antagonists
Datalore, Elementary Dear Data, Brothers, Ship in a Bottle and Descent are essential background viewing for season three. Unveiled in that NYCC trailer, two of TNG's most memorable antagonists are to make their long-awaited return to the franchise.
Lore has been conspicuous by his absence since Picard's opening episode, Remembrance. B-4 appeared in his disassembled state, reminding viewers of Data's demise. The introductory episode chose to ignore the third Soong-type android altogether. Now it seems he has returned, although as with many pieces of the Picard puzzle, in what capacity is unconfirmed. Trekkies do however have the confirmation from Terry Matalas again from his Twitter account that there is at least one scene in the new season where the whole of the TNG cast will be assembled.
Alongside the meddling android is the sentient hologram James Moriarty. Accidentally created as a foe worthy of Data by Geordi, the trailer seems to suggest he is still a hologram but is either let out or escapes from the confines of his universe-in-a-box prison created in Ship in a Bottle. The final click of the pistol hammer in the trailer certainly suggests the second of those options!
