Star Trek: Ranking The Short Treks From Worst To Best
2. Q&A
Rebecca Rojmin as TOS' mysterious Number One and Ethan Peck's new take on Spock. In an elevator. That's the episode.
And that's enough.
"Q&A" shows us the first time Spock steps onto the deck of the USS Enterprise and it's a magical moment that's pretty quickly hindered by a malfunctioning turbolift that leaves him and Number One to just sit and talk and get to know one another.
This culminates in a bizarre round of Gilbert and Sullivan, but Number One's advice that Spock keep his "freaky" to himself is simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking. Number One sees something of herself in Spock and "Q&A" successfully communicates how this fairly obscure character could serve to mold such a famous one.
"Q&A", "The Trouble with Edward", and "Ask Not" feel like proofs of concept for a Star Trek series starring Rojmin, Peck, and Anson Mount as Captain Pike, set aboard the familiar USS Enterprise. Like we needed any proof. Get on it CBS.
