Star Trek: The Next Generation Launches on Blu-Ray
It’s been 25 years since something huge occurred in the Universe.
Its been 25 years since something huge occurred in the Universe. The event had such cataclysmic effects that it ripped a group of people in half, forever breaking an allegiance that had been born out of intrigue and loyalty and forged by ridicule and insults. This seemingly unbreakable bond was shattered by a new introduction. I am of course talking about the airing of a new series of Star Trek. Almost twenty years after Spock had hung up his ears, Kirk let down his hair and Bones rested his bones, a new crew continued the adventures on the Enterprise, exploring new worlds with advanced technology and a bigger budget. And like Yoko to the Beatles, it tore The Trekkie universe in half. Some shunned the new Trek crew, whereas others accepted them as one in the same. Then there were those who went further, and called Picard, Riker and Co superior. War was declared! But now, a quarter of a century, three more spin offs, a reboot and a number of Trek treaties later, peace has returned and The Next Generation is almost universally celebrated as another milestone in television and sci-fi. Now, The Next Generation has received the high definition treatment and Season One gets a Blu-Ray release on the 23rd of July. To mark this momentous star date (65987/8, to be precise) Online Fire in conjunction with a band of rogue Klingons have commandeered The Enterprise (pub in Camden, see what they did there?) and taken Star Trek expert Terry Shuttleworth prisoner, forcing him to host the ultimate quiz night. Well tonight, I and a number of other fans are going undercover, suited and booted in Star Fleet attire to infiltrate the vessel and challenge the once great enemies of the federation to a game of knowledge. We have been dubbed "Team Picard"...
Will we be successful in overcoming these rogue Klingons? Will we free Commander Shuttlworth from captivity? Tune in tomorrow for the answer and to see pictures of me and my team getting our Geek on Trek style! Now I am going to suit up, go forth and make it so.
