Star Trek: The Original Series - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best
8. Nurse Chapel
The other main recurring character on the list, Roddenberry's wife Majel Barrett played Nurse Christine Chapel across all three seasons of the show.
Really, Chapel is the perfect person you want by your bedside. She is generally warm and kind, and there are many great moments set on the ship's sickbay where she matched Dr McCoy's quick wit with her own dose of dry humour. Unlike Rand, Chapel also came across as more than a one-dimensional character, especially when it came to her personal feelings regarding Spock. She hides her affection for the Vulcan well, until she eventually reveals how she feels to him in 'Amok Time', with Barrett arguably giving her best performance as she is coolly rejected.
Unfortunately, she can't rank much higher as her part was quite limited compared to the main crew. It's a real shame her character wasn't featured more, especially as Barrett remained so committed to the franchise, even after her husband's death. Nurse Chapel, you deserved better.
