Star Trek: Voyager - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best

2. Kathryn Janeway

Star Trek Voyager
NBC

Star Trek's first leading woman, Kathryn Janeway had a tough task ahead of her, attempting to measure up to Kirk, Picard and Sisko. Fortunately, Kate Mulgrew was more than up to the task and delivered a character whose poise, dedication, professionalism and wry charm won over fans and critics alike. Not afraid to go commando to fight a giant virus ('Macrocosm'), or to outwit cunning telepathy bigots ('Counterpoint'), there's almost nothing that Janeway can't find a way to confront with her scientific background.

Stranding her crew on the other side of the galaxy weighed heavily on Captain Janeway and there were numerous challenges that threatened to either devastate, cripple or otherwise strand the journey of the USS Voyager, but Janeway persevered through them all, even years after their successful return ('Endgame'), she would still find a way to make that journey again and again, sacrificing of herself over and over.

Janeway broke ground as the first female captain in the franchise and led the way for an entire generation of Trek fans to strike out into space and science. Soon, Kate Mulgrew will be reprising her role of Captain (or is that Admiral) Janeway in the upcoming Star Trek Prodigy, for which we're all eagerly excited.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
