Star Wars: 10 Reasons Why Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi Is Awesome
8. The Sharp Technical Values
For the most part, Obi-Wan Kenobi is a thoroughly impressive piece of television. Yes, it lacks the epic feel of the films but that's fine; this is a more down-to-earth piece and a more low-key vibe was arguably the right call.
Deborah Chow directed all six episodes, and even if her work was occasionally hampered by slightly iffy editing, she did a very fine job indeed. Her directing style is intelligently understated and laidback, with her use of intimate hand-held cinematography placing viewers right in the middle of the action.
There are also some particularly fantastic shots throughout this series; that fantastic closing shot of Part II - which cut from a close-up of Obi-Wan to a close-up of Anakin in a bacta tank - and the cinematography throughout the lightsaber duels especially stand out.
Strong production design and a sharp musical score from Natalie Holt further enhance the series, so it's definitely worth seeing on the biggest TV screen you can find.
