Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 11 - 5 Ups & 2 Downs From "Shattered"

5. Up - Dramatic Irony

Clone Wars
Lucasfilm

The audience knows what is coming for the entire episode. Since Revenge of the Sith hit theaters well before Clone Wars aired, we've known the fate of these clones whom we've grown to love. The trainers for the new Clone Wars season have also teased Order 66, setting the stage for this episode's dark turn.

Shattered steers into the skid when it comes to audience expectations, foreshadowing Order 66 right from the start. It intentionally plays up what will happen, with moments like when the clones are hailed as heroes on Mandalore, and when Ashoka tells Rex that their existence is the one good thing to come from the war. This dramatic irony, combined with Kevin Kliner's chilling score throughout the first act, perfectly sets the stage for what's to come.
