Star Wars Rebels Season 3: 20 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See

The Super Tactical Droid from The Last Battle, General Kalani, is the same droid who featured in The Clone Wars Onderon Arc. The markings of his chassis are the notable parallel, and although he is voiced by the same actor, Gregg Berger, on Rebels, his voice has gone through a significant change.

Kalani was sent by Count Dooku to deal with the brewing Onderonian Civil War and assist King Sanjay Rash in defeating the resistance movement, led by Steela Gerrera, sister to none other than Saw Gerrera.

However, due to the strength of the resistance movement, Kalani calculated that fighting to secure Onderon was not worth the time or resources to be worth its strategic value. Under Dooku’s order, Kalani killed King Rash and was told to relocate to Agamar.

It is there, on Agamar, that Rex and the Ghost Crew came into contact with Kalani, who believing The Clone Wars still raged on, wanted to end the war on his terms.

The end title card to the episode was also redesigned to resemble the opening title card of The Clone Wars, using the same thematic music from the series; a fitting tribute to a show that was cancelled before it could wrap up its storylines, but finding some form of closure, here on Rebels.
