Star Wars Rebels Season 3: 6 Big Things We Still Haven't Seen

It would seem that we’re getting even more from the Expanded Universe this season. The Season 3 trailer also gave us a glimpse of Ezra and Zeb being attacked by a group of Dark Troopers; advanced battle droids that featured heavy plating, resembling the armour of Stormtroopers, heavy firepower and jump packs for increased flexibility and tactical advantage.

There Imperial droids were first seen in the LucasArts game, Dark Forces, which also introduced fan-favourite character Kyle Katarn. Now don’t get excited. Katarn will not be joining the Rebels-verse (as far as we know), but its exciting to see these hulking, death machines making their trip into the Canon universe.

Very little is known about the episode in which they will feature. All we know is that they will appear. Dave Filoni loves throwing in callbacks to the Legends continuity wherever he can. Just look at the Hammerhead-Class Cruiser from last season, The Outrider’s appearance this season and a bunch of others both obvious and discrete.

Needless to say, Dark Troopers are another welcome addition to the Star Wars canon.
