Stargate: 10 Reasons Why NOW Is The Perfect Time To Bring The Franchise Back

3. General Samantha Carter

While Daniel Jackson and Jack O'Neill were the core of the original film, Stargate SG-1 had a team of four. Jack and Daniel were joined by Teal'c and Captain (then Major, then Lt. Colonel, then full Colonel) Samantha Carter. For many, many fans, the wit, ingenuity, scientific genius and genuine human warmth of Sam Carter was the reason that SG-1 was so successful, mirrored by her meteoric rise through the Air Force ranks.

Given that the last time we saw Sam Carter was in command of the USAF Daedalus-class BC-304 General George Hammond, there's scope for her to have moved from commanding a battleship over to high command and joined (or replaced) Jack O'Neill at Homeworld Security. Sam had boundless leadership and problem-solving skills and would be easily considered for that kind of position in reality.

Further, Sam's inclusion in SG-1 was seen at first as a 'token female character' but continued to prove that stereotype wrong throughout the show's run. There's more barriers for her to break in the future.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
