Stargate: Every Series And Movie Ranked Worst To Best
5. Stargate SG-1: Season 10
The final season of Stargate SG-1 was largely brilliant, with a proper crossover to Atlantis (finally, only took 3 years), numerous shenanigans from Ba'al and the irresistible Vala Mal Doran (Claudia Black) joining the team, making it five members for the first time. The war against the Ori seems suitably hopeless as their killer ships maraud through the galaxy and we get to see the Orici (Morena Baccarin) for the first time.
While the Lucian Alliance continued to be a not particularly convincing antagonistic faction, the episode 'Bounty' was a great riff on classic movie 'Grosse Pointe Blank' with numerous homages. The season mostly managed to balance the urge to have fun and also be deadly serious, as seen by episodes like 'Bad Guys' (pretty funny) and 'Talion' (where numerous Jaffa are murdered by terrorist bombing and Teal'c swears revenge).
Since the showrunners had planned for an 11th season, the finale was chosen simply to be a touching, character driven episode, rather than a spectacle, as the movie 'Ark of Truth' would conclude the storyline. The finale 'Unending' shows just how much love there is for these characters and their story.
Finally, this season also sees the return of Martin Lloyd and Wormhole X-Treme for the 200th episode, simply called '200'. In the closing moments, Doug Anders shares those fateful words from Isaac Asimov: "the core of science fiction has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."
