Stargate SG-1: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

6. Season 3

Season 3 opened up with the conclusion to a somewhat lacklustre two-parter, but gained in momentum quickly afterwards. Episodes like Fair Game and Learning Curve that followed were decent individual stories, but they also facilitated a great deal of world building, with our first real understanding of the System Lords and where Earth technology may go from here.

Demons, Jolinar's Memories and The Devil You Know allow us to have a proper look at the big bad Goa'uld Sokar (before his untimely demise), and then episodes like Forever In A Day, Pretense and Maternal Instinct all expand upon or definitively conclude storylines.

In the very first episode of the series, Abydonians Sha're and Skaara were both abducted by the Goa'uld, but their destinies were drawn to a close here, since the show knew it could survive, even thrive, without resorting to the same plotlines over and over again.

Standalone episodes like Foothold and Urgo are both highly entertaining, but the top rated has to go to A Hundred Days. O'Neill is forced to face the possibility that he might never be able to go home again and has to settle in a quiet village of decent folk and perhaps give up his previous life. Its conclusion tugs at the heartstrings.

Finally, the conclusion to the series, Nemesis, introduces a brand new threat to the SGC. The Replicators.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
