Stargate SG-1: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

5. Season 4

The season started with a bang, as the Replicators gained a potential foothold on Earth inside a Russian submarine. Fortunately, good old fashioned gunfire and explosive seemed to put paid to that, and Sam Carter was instrumental in protecting the Asgard home world from the encroaching threat.

From there, episodes continued to build the rising story arc of the war against Apophis, whose actions against Heru'ur in The Serpent's Venom secured his power base beyond measure.

Episodes like Absolute Power and The Other Side allow us to see a slightly darker side to our heroes, with Daniel being seduced by the gift of powerful knowledge, and the team being confronted by a race of white supremacists whose technology would be of great value to Earth. Chain Reaction and Prodigy give us a slightly wider view of the role of Stargate Command amongst the US Military and how it's perceived.

Finally, while Window of Opportunity is 'just' a comedy episode, it's got a lot of heart which carries through the entire season.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
