In spite of Stargirl's cable-like presentation, it isn't completely immune to the issues that often plague network shows in the genre. Yes, as it takes place in a world with super possibilities, we do have to suspend our disbelief, but that doesn't excuse conveniences crafted for no reason other than moving the plot along.
