Steven Moffat's 10 Greatest Additions To Doctor Who

6. The Paternoster Gang

Doctor Who The Husbands of River Song
BBC

Making their first appearance as part of The Doctor's army in 'A Good Man Goes To War', Silurian Detective Madame Vastra, her maid/Wife Jenny, and Sontaran Nurse turned Manservant Strax formed an unlikely but humorous trio.

Subsequent appearances had the three settling in Victorian-era England at Vastra's house on Paternoster Row, where Vastra continued to work as a Detective. They help The Doctor work through his grief over the loss of The Ponds, and quickly became much loved supporting players of the Eleventh Doctor era.

Vastra and Jenny earned a place in Doctor Who history for engaging in the first lesbian kiss on the show, and Strax remains a favourite with Whovians. Devoted fans still hold out hope that they will one-day get their own spin-off.

Kristy Anderson hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
