Stranger Things: 10 Best Supporting Characters
4. Billy Hargrove
Complete with a hair-metal haircut and an earing, Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) is the epitome of the 80s bad boy archetype.
He arrived in Hawkins with his stepsister Max in the second season and instantly asserted himself as a dangerous and violent individual. Not only did he beat Steve to a pulp, he tried to hit the Hawkins kids with his car and took a less than favourable view of Max’s friendship with Lucas.
The next season saw his villainous side evolve to the next level when he became possessed by the Mind Flayer. Now instead of being an extreme high school bully, he was kidnapping innocent people to feed to the interdimensional monster.
As vile as his actions were, though, there was more to Billy than his rocker boy persona showed. He came from an abusive home, which drove his mother to leave him with his violent father. There was still some good in him, and Eleven saw it.
At the moment where all hope seemed lost, Billy managed to break free of the Mind Flayer's hold on him and sacrifice himself to save the kids.
The result was a tearjeaking scene that completely redeemed Billy as a heroic figure.
