Stranger Things: 10 Best Supporting Characters
3. Barbara Holland
If the first season of Stranger Things taught us anything, it was that nobody is safe from the danger of the Upside Down. Viewers learned that lesson the hard way with the harrowing death of Barbara Holland (Shannon Purser).
Close friends with Nancy Wheeler, Barb only ever had her friend’s best interest at heart when Nancy began dating resident bad boy Steve Harrington. She was sweet and caring, with her awkward charm winning over the hearts of fans from the moment she appeared on screen. Her only crime was being a good friend, and she paid the ultimate price for it.
After having a massive argument with Nancy at Steve’s house party, a frustrated and abandoned Barb sat at the poolside while the others were upstairs doing more than making out. Blood dripped into the water from a cut on her hand which attracted the attention of the Demigorgon.
She vanished within a blink of an eye and found herself in the Upside Down at the mercy of the creature, which dragged her to her doom as she pleaded for help.
Though Barb is dead, this character has left a lasting impact on the show and helped it becoming a global phenomenon.
