Stranger Things: 15 Best Easter Eggs (So Far)
10. Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
Season 2's storyline owes quite a lot to the concept of both the original Invasion of The Body Snatchers and its 1978 remake (given that The Mind Flayer literally invaded the real world and, for lack of a better term, snatched Will's body), but there was one scene in particular that managed to recreate the unnerving feel of the remake in the most, well, unnerving of ways.
When personnel from Hawkins lab learned that the Upside Down was beginning to manifest right-side up in the tunnels below town, they sent agents to neutralise the threats which, like Body Snatchers, were plant-like creatures. However, when they burned the vines, Will collapsed in agony.
With his mouth ajar and a chilling shriek sound effect playing in the background, the scene that unfolded before all of us was unmistakably an homage to Donald Sutherland's bloodcurdling scream in one of the 1978 film's most memorable moments.
