Dustin's girlfriend Suzie became something of a running gag, only because nobody was sure if she actually existed. Teased, mocked and jeered because she sounded too good to be true, even viewers would be forgiven for thinking that she was a figment of his imagination.
But Suzie was real. So real, in fact, that she finally popped up in the season finale to help the gang defeat the Mind Flayer... well, at least she did... right after forcing Dustin to sing 'The NeverEnding Story' over the walkie-talkies with her.
She may have only appeared briefly, but it was a payoff worth waiting for that lightened some very dark material.
