Stranger Things Season 4: 10 Crazy Fan Theories That Could Happen
6. Explaining Hopper's Survival
Much like Eleven has become the face of Stranger Things, Jim Hopper has become the very heart of the franchise, and I’d argue that you can’t be a true fan of the series without at least admitting that you’ve come to love his character arc. The transformation from uncaring and cold-hearted sheriff to the lovable goofball we know today has been wholesome to say the least, which made his sacrifice at the end of season 3 a heartbreaking experience for us all.
But with confirmation that David Harbour will be reprising this role in season 4, we now know that Hopper’s lingering look at Joyce was not one of ‘goodbye’, but one of ‘see you later’, causing us all to second guess how in the world he ended up in a Russian internment camp.
How in the world is right, as according to a prominent theory, Hopper survived the explosive ordeal by jumping into the upside down before the closure of the rift. And after avoiding the dangerous creatures of the deep, Hopper was essentially captured by the true enemy, the Russians, who have opened up another rift back in their home country of Mother Russia.
As such, Hopper will have quite the part to play in any arcs that take place in the snowy setting, with the Chernobyl disaster potentially being one of them.
