Supergirl: 6 Ups And 4 Downs From Episode 2 'Stronger Together'

2. Up - The Henshaw Twist

The DEO stuff was a borderline 'down' this week, because it really wasn't all that interesting. The opening training scene was fun, and there was a good moment between Kara and Alex as mentioned, but when it came to the meat of the story involving the Department of Extra-Normal Operations, it all felt a little 'blah'. It's coming across a bit too much as Kara working for them, even though they don't seem all that keen on aliens, and I'm not sure placing her development in the context of the DEO is the best way to go. Then, right at the end, there was a saving grace. Henshaw walks away after a brief conversation with Alex, and his eyes glow red. This throws up some big questions, not least is he an alien? And what are his intentions? He's been pretty hard on Kara in both episodes, and while it's portrayed as him pushing her to get better so she can save people and help out his department, is there another, more sinister motive? Suddenly I find myself caring a bit more about the DEO, which will hopefully continue, and mean it's more interesting going forward.
