Supergirl: 7 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Fight Or Flight'

2. Reactron - Up

Aside from Kara's aunt Alura, the villains haven't been great on Supergirl so far. Vartox was rather bland in the first week, and last week's Hellgrammite was instantly forgettable. That's the problem with the 'of-the-week' formula with bad guys, so many can end up being filler. Thankfully that's rectified with Reactron, who has much more to do than the other two foes Kara's had to face. They make a stab at giving him a proper backstory, rather than him just being an alien, and there's a bit more depth and purpose to the character. Perhaps most importantly, it feels like there is a genuine threat. He's more than a match for Supergirl in their first two encounters, and it takes a lot for her to eventually beat him. Reactron is a good villain for this type of show, and that's the level the villain-of-the-week needs to be at going forward.
