Supergirl is a 43-minute show, but they don't half manage to pack an awful lot into that runtime. Just within this episode Kara clashes with the villain-of-the-week on three separate occasions, as well as Maxwell Lord being taken hostage, the interview with Cat and fallout from it, Superman turning up(!), the introduction of Lucy Lane, some stuff over at the DEO, a new base for Team Supergirl to work from, and probably a bunch of other stuff I've missed as it went whizzing past. It was the same in the previous episodes as well, as the series has started at a rather frenetic pace in terms of introducing characters, setting things up, developing Kara's powers, revealing her secret to a bunch of people, and having her already fight the supposed Big Bad in just the 2nd episode. The fast pacing is a bold move, and it does make for an entertaining episode, but on the whole it's a worry about how much longer it can sustain it during the rest of the season, and how successfully they'll be able to slow things down when the time comes.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
