It's only been two episodes, and Nia Nal is already proving to be one of the standout aspects of Supergirl's fourth season. Having previously channelled her inner-Kara to become every bit as quirky and intuitive as the Girl Of Steel in the season premiere, this week's episode saw her steal the show altogether.

Outraged by the pizzeria's treatment of Brainy, she went to James Olsen and asked him to write an editorial about the importance of accepting aliens because acceptance is right. She then revealed that she was a transgender woman and recalled some of the instances in which she suffered from attacks and denials simply because of who she was, telling him that the hate-mobs and bullies needed to see what they had become.

It was a deeply personal moment that Nicole Maines delivered with perfection and it highlighted that nothing should prevent someone from being treated with respect. Through her words, she ensured that we all understood that being different is not an excuse to bully someone and that acceptance is everything.
