Supergirl Season 4: 4 Ups & 1 Down From 'The House Of L'

Lex Luthor, the real Big Bad of Supergirl Season 4. Who would have thought it? Well, if 'The House Of L' taught us anything, it's that Lex is indeed solely to blame for everything that has gone wrong in Kara's life this year.

During the flashback arc, his brief conversation with Otis Graves and Eve Teschmacher revealed that he needed a charismatic but radical American to execute his long-term plan. This prompted Otis to hand him one of Ben Lockwood's pamphlets. In that moment, it all became clear: Lex essentially created Agent Liberty and, as a result, was responsible for all of the madness that followed his ascension to the top of National City's most-wanted list.

While this could have been done more effectively (instead of a throwaway line), it's quite forgivable in this case considering that Lex's words have always been his greatest weapons, so it would be totally in line for his character to construct the entire season based on a single line of dialogue. Fans of Agent Liberty may also suggest that this threatens to undermine all of the villain's actual work but, again we're talking about Lex Luthor here. He doesn't have to be seen on-screen for us to know that he's pulling the strings - which is exactly what he's been doing all season.

After all this time, we now know that neither Ben Lockwood nor the Red Daughter are the Big Bads of this season - they are merely pawns in Lex's master plan as he attempts to destroy the Girl of Steel forever. Just like that, Season 4 has become a lot more interesting.

Now, for the negative.
