Supergirl Season 4: 5 Ups & 4 Downs From ‘Crime And Punishment’
Downs...
4. The Miraculous Non-Super Super Clothes
Supergirl's quick change back into everyday clothes at the prison to avoid Otis Graves' impending Kryptonite attack was such a genius move that it deserves a standing ovation. Not only was it a clever way to subvert viewers expectations, it was a microcosm of Kara's character journey throughout the episode - highlighting that there are some things that Kara Danvers can do better than Supergirl. There's only one problem with it: Where did she get her clothes in the library of an all-male prison?
At a push, you could argue that she was wearing them underneath her Supergirl uniform, but where did she get the glasses and, for that matter, the coat? Does she also have a Flash ring that we don't know about that can somehow compress human clothing and glasses?
This show may successfully stretch the limitations of what's possible but that doesn't mean that it can defy basic logic. Much like last week's episode of Arrow saw Felicity activate a bomb to allow herself, Laurel, Sara and Dinah to escape a warehouse full of unconscious gunmen and not a single word was said about what actually happened to the gunmen (who theoretically should have been killed by the blast), this is a really sloppy mistake because it appears that the Arrowverse shows are too concerned with explaining the complex stuff, that they often overlook the little things.
