Supergirl Season 4: 6 Major Questions We Have After The Midseason Premiere
2. What Do The Soldiers Plan On Doing With The Other Supergirl?
The Season 3 finale of Supergirl ended with the promise of something huge. Following the defeat of Reign, it was revealed that the Girl of Steel's use of the Harun-El resulted in a split, creating a second Kara. This other Supergirl didn't look all that friendly and she somehow ended up on the Siberian Border surrounded by Russian soldiers, suggesting that the show was going to tackle a live-action adaptation of iconic comic, Superman: Red Son.
However in the nine Season 4 episodes that followed, she only appeared twice, punching her way through a mine within the mountains of Kaznia (derailing a train that Supergirl ended up saving) in the premiere, before she was later seen recovering from the Earth's Kryptonite-laced atmosphere.
This "Red Daughter" Supergirl resurfaced in the midseason premiere as she destroyed drones, missiles and a tank at the behest of the soldiers that were training her. But the discussion between those soldiers, in which they theorised about the possibility of controlling her and planned on using her to fight against something other than tanks, was more than a little troubling. Naturally, this leaves us wondering what their true motivations are.
It's likely that this Kara is being saved as the season's primary antagonist and will undoubtedly make her presence felt towards the end of its run, but do the Russian soldiers plan of having her face off against the other Girl of Steel?
