Supergirl Season 4: 6 Ups & 3 Downs From ‘Red Dawn’

1. Red Daughter's Apparent Death

Supergirl Lex Luthor Red Daughter
The CW

Lex's evil plan came to fruition when he thwarted the Kasnian attack (that he orchestrated in the first place). Through the use of his own propaganda, he posed in his own super-suit, holding the "dead body of Supergirl". We, however, as viewers, know that this wasn't actually the Girl of Steel and was, instead, the Red Daughter. Thus, the episode's conclusion posed us with the question: Is the Red Daughter dead?

Given her apparent change-of-heart following her fight with Supergirl when, upon hearing something (likely Lex's attack on Kasnia), she flew off in a hurry, it's unlikely that she hard a part to play in Lex's plan. After all, she doubted Kara's claims over Lex's intentions to use Kasnia and herself, so why would she willingly help him destroy the Kasnian invaders? With that in mind, it's looking like Supergirl's doppelganger may have suffered a dark fate at the hands of Mr. Luthor.

If the Red Daughter is indeed dead, then this can't be seen as anything other than a missed opportunity. While it was established a while ago that Lex was the mastermind behind both her and Ben Lockwood's respective missions (making him the real Big Bad), that shouldn't mean that she's suddenly expendable.

Does this mean that fans of the Superman: Red Son arc had to endure a season full of cameos and teases only for her to be killed off as soon as she became relevant to the main plot? As it stands at the moment, this has made her appear like nothing more than a footnote in Lex's grand plan and, quite frankly, the Red Daughter deserves better.
