Supergirl Season 4: 6 Ups & 3 Downs From ‘Red Dawn’
1. Chyler Leigh's Performance
"Please don't leave me." Alex Danvers pleaded as her super-powered sister lay motionless on the ground below her, unaware of the fact that there probably wasn't a dry eye in any house that just so happened to be tuning into that very episode of Supergirl.
Chyler Leigh put everything she had into that performance, giving viewers her heart and soul as Alex attempted to will Kara back to life. Strong performances are absolutely nothing new for her but this was something else entirely.
From tearfully shaking the Girl of Steel's body to desperately shoving a bunch of grass into her hand and begging for her to siphon the sunlight from it, her performance was raw, tender and incredibly moving and, in all honesty, it was impossible not to join Alex in her quest to save her sister.
Without a doubt, one of the strongest actors in TV today, Leigh has always been one of Supergirl's greatest assets, and she proved that again here by turning an already-emotional moment into a real tearjerker. There was an authenticity in this that we just don't see on many CW shows these days and, quite frankly, it was nothing short of beautiful.
Bravo, Chyler! Bravo indeed.
Now, for the negatives...
