Supergirl Season 4: 8 Ups & 2 Downs From 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?'
7. Major Progress For Nia and Brainy
James' shooting turned out to be an unlikely assist for both Nia Nal and Brainiac-5 as it allowed them to address issues that had been weighing on their minds as of late and, in a rather fulfilling moment, sent them both down a path we had been hoping for them to venture down. The former's worry over her still-blooming powers had been briefly touched upon in the past while the latter's struggles over the loss of his Legion ring had been a recurring theme in recent weeks - and this week, it all came to a head.
Heartbroken over the fact that her dreams hadn't given her the knowledge of James' attack in advance, Nia couldn't help but feel guilty. Similarly, Brainy couldn't comprehend how he wasn't able to predict the events and launched into a tirade about how every other A.I. is evil. That guilt, however, allowed both of them to find a moment of peace as Nia, in a desperate attempt to calm Brainy down, kissed him.
Not only was it great that the writers cleverly used the scenario to allow both Nia and Brainy to vent about their concerns without it ever getting expositional, it was nice to finally see both characters do what they had clearly wanted to do for a long time. Though the 12th-level intellect would humorously attempt to use Keanu Reeves to explain their blossoming chemistry away, it's pretty clear that the pair is heading to Romanceville and, quite frankly, it's long overdue at this point.
