Supergirl Season 4 Finale: 9 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Quest For Peace'
8. James Gets Cured
The finale saw James Olsen get himself involved in the huge battle royal on Shelley Island as he, Kara and Alex attempted to locate the abducted aliens, only to run into Agent Liberty and his Children of Liberty. Naturally, a war broke out as he and Alex attempted to stop the villainous mob from entering the facility, but it would culminate in a battle between him and Liberty, as the two super-powered foes ended up injecting each other with Lena's cure.
On the surface, it might have seemed redundant to spend the last few episodes focusing on James' recently-gained superpowers, merely to build towards one multi-person battle but, given the outcome of his own storyline, it's easy to overlook any issues one might have with it.
The writers have struggled to maintain any of James' narratives for a significant period of time and, let's be clear, making him one of the many super-powered beings on the show was not the way to solve that problem. They were onto something with his PTSD storyline earlier this season so, let's hope that with the loss of his superpowers and the full-time introduction of his sister, he has something equally substantial (and longer-lasting) next season.
