7. The Return Of The Super-Suit

You have to hand it to the Supergirl writers, they sure know how to make a last-minute alteration look like it was part of the original plan.

Back when the first Season 4 trailer dropped at Comic-Con, the reaction to the Girl of Steel’s new super-suit was rather negative – given that everyone knew it was just a convenient way for the writers to write around Melissa Benoist’s absence (the result of an extended stint on Broadway). Due to this, fans were happy to see it go, knowing that it meant the full-time return of the series' star.

The suit, however, would later return mid-way through the season and has done so once again in the season finale, as Kara brought it with her to battle Lex. Now, during both of these times, Melissa Benoist has been an active part of the show, which means that the writers have found effective ways to incorporate this once-convenient plot device into the storyline itself.

That, and the fact that it looks really badass, is enough to declare the super-suit as one of this season’s unexpected positives – one that will hopefully return in the future.
