Supernatural: 10 Most Hated Episodes

2. Bloodlines (Season 9, Episode 20)

By their very nature, backdoor pilots are usually a terrible idea because they steal a week off a beloved show with a fanbase that might not be interested in watching a new series and they're only given 40 minutes to convince viewers to be interested in their show. Some backdoor pilots work well, like The Flash's introduction in Arrow, and some, while not working well as an episode, still manage to get their show picked up, like Ravenswood in Pretty Little Liars; however short-lived.

Bloodlines, though, is a backdoor pilot that falls spectacularly flat on its face, so much so that no spin-off series ever happened. This episode was meant to be the backdoor pilot for a spin-off series entitled Supernatural: Bloodlines, but that spin-off ultimately didn't happen and for good reason. This episode is painful to watch and felt like a horrible rip-off of popular teen supernatural films and series such as Twilight, Teen Wolf, and The Vampire Diaries.

Not to mention, this episode was Supernatural in name only. It barely had the Winchester brothers in it and the story contributed nothing to the Supernatural episode. This is made even worse by the fact that the characters this episode decides to focus on instead are terribly written and one-dimensional, with acting wooden, emotionless, and unengaging.

The whole fandom can agree — if you're binge-watching the Supernatural series, Bloodlines is the episode you ought to skip.
