What show is complete without an on-again-off-again frenemy like Crowley?
As one of the longest-running characters of the show, Crowley has been one of the teams greatest villains and associates. The character stood out thanks to his conniving and manipulating ways, often double-crossing or outsmarting the Winchester's at every turn.
Like his mother, Crowley was a mostly selfish being that cared predominantly about keeping himself safe. This often meant him switching sides or striking deals whenever the situation called for it.
Crowley managed to work his way from lowly demon to King of the Crossroads and eventually to the King of Hell himself. After Sam cures Crowley of his demonic urges, the anti-hero realises that all of his goals stemmed from a need to be loved.
He finally manages to prove himself a faithful friend when he gives his own life to seal Lucifer away in another dimension.
